i can never understand how it's possible to hang yourself from a low hight, if your feet can touch the floor, then how do you hang,?

in a sense, my friend in high school hung herself by her bed post. with a belt. you get so light headed and pass out that your body goes limp, and you end up dying from lack of oxygen while passed out.
