Jeesh. Pretty much the worst thing that can happen here to a cabbie, is a fare legging it without paying.

Sad, yes. But I'm not sure I'd call her especially 'brave'.
Where i'm from, she can be considered brave. many women here in her situation would just resort to finding someone who would support her and her family's needs. Deciding to work it out on her own effort is brave enough for me. especially if she doesnt have the educational requirement to make things easier.

Not really.

It is not all that uncommon for cabbies to be murdered in the US at least.

Especially at night.

In Mexico even the paperboys carry an assault rifle so why did she not have a gun just in case!

Re: Female Taxi Driver Murdered in Mexico

Wow, that's really sad and messed up. I'll bet whoever killed her purposely caused her to rear end them just so they could try and extort money off her. I can't think of any reason why someone would demand so much money for what's probably some small fender bender I mean come on...it was truck! When my mother in law went to Mexico two years ago for holiday, I warned her about this kind of stuff. She was smart and stayed at the resort.

Re: Female Taxi Driver Murdered in Mexico

Sad, yes. But I'm not sure I'd call her especially 'brave'. I mean, it isn't like she was using her cab to deliver medical supplies to besieged schools in a war zone. She was just a normal person trying to make her way in the world. Sucks that she had to die horribly, especially since she'd apparently made efforts to work a legitimate life and stay clear of the drug trade, unlike many. But it doesn't make her a hero.

I'm not trying to demean her death or anything. But the papers aren't always even that accurate. For all we (or even her family) know, she was playing 'halcone' for one of the Cartels, like most cab drivers do. Her death could have been on account of that rather than just a random bad-luck encounter with the wrong guys.

Or maybe she was completely innocent and legit. Who knows. Brave just happens to be a word that I don't like throwing around lightly. Our culture today has an obsession with making 'brave heroes' out of victims, even if they were just normal folks getting by.
You're an idiot. So is everybody who "liked" your post. Your entire body of logic is refuted by the description of the initial video.

#1. Directly calling me and/or the people who Liked a post 'idiots' just for politely expressing an opinion is trolling. Plain and simple. Do it again in a Death thread and you will receive an Infraction for it. Take that shit to the WC and stop being disruptive.

#2. There is no video in this thread. You seem to be confused.

#3. The circumstances behind the murder were only fully clarified in an update I made to the original post many months after I started the thread. Rather than changing all of the text, I simply posted the new information as an Update with a newer date on it. Perhaps you failed to notice that part. In either case, speculation was valid until contrary information was presented later on.
