Female Police Constable Hangs Herself in Barracks
Members of her unit were required to batter down the door to the women's barracks after finding it locked and blocked from the inside a few hours after breakfast. Once they did so, the body of a 21 year old female constable was found hanging from a ceiling fan, using a scarf as a noose. The young woman had recently transferred (about ten days ago) to the precinct, but was reported to be adjusting well and was well-liked. Her peers said she was a good worker, friendly, and a team player. She and five other female officers had just cooked breakfast together earlier that morning and they all reported that she was happy and laid back with no signs of depression. She was due to be married in about 6 more weeks and there was discussion that the marriage was not coming together the way she had hoped, so that is suspected to be the main catalyst for her actions. Of course, her family is trying to blame the precinct, claiming that someone there murdered her and staged it as a suicide. While that does happen sometimes in India, this looks like a pretty authentic suicidal hanging scene to me, based on the features of the cadaver and the surroundings. An investigation is ongoing nonetheless. |

Re: Female Police Constable Hangs Herself in Barracks
i might want to blame a murderer too, if i was her family. doesn't seem to make sense based on the information provided in this post, but perhaps she was unhappy and her personal demons went ignored by her family. that is pretty common.

Unless there is significant enough trauma to cause physical injury to her genitals, an autopsy isn't going to do anything to confirm 'sexual abuse.' So yeah, that'll indicate something if she was violently raped. But otherwise it won't mean much. I guess I don't understand what you mean by theory. Theory about her motive for suicide? |

Re: Female Police Constable Hangs Herself in Barracks
Friend of mine was a cop in suburban Chicago when a new policewoman blew her brains out in the locker room after her first day of police work. She was about the same age, early 20s. She put in her first day as a cop, went to the locker room at the end of her shift, and shot herself in the head with the .45 ACP pistols they were issued. My friend, who isn't the most sensitive person, cleaned it up. He said "you wouldn't believe what a .45 does to a head!" Now days, I wouldn't be surprised if they paid tens of thousands of dollars for a death scene clean up specialist. The lady had come from a broken home and had some other problems. Police work can be like a war zone depending on the locale, she probably had a really shitty first day that wasn't what she was expecting and decided to quit the job and her life... |

pretty much, if everything in life is going peachy, suicide is rather suspicious. Unless recent events changed the peachy life. Not hard to speculate new young female recruit would attract attention and temptation from people of more authority and power.

Re: Female Police Constable Hangs Herself in Barracks
The current line is that it was a 'family dispute relating to the upcoming marriage' that prompted her to kill herself. But I agree that it does seem oddly sudden. Then again, very few of these cases describe the decedent as 'dour and suicidal' in the days leading up to the event. Often hard to tell. An autopsy may explain more, as you said. But I suspect her precinct is handling the investigation and if there's any indication of wrongdoing towards her among her squadmates, that will almost certainly be covered up. It always is. TBH I am amazed we got any photos at all. Usually you get nothing detailed when one of them actually kills herself in the barracks or station. Someone's probably pissed about the leak. On the other hand, and possibly to their advantage with the public, I think the photos make pretty clear that she died from hanging in that position and wasn't placed there after the fact. |

if true, tragic as it is, says a lot about hr and training of Chicago PD. this should've never happened if this lady was properly tested and trained. i mean, folks. fresh PD recruit blows her brain out on her first day? her boss and her boss' boss and probably some bosses above will be crucified, Chicago or Moscow or wherever. sorry if i hurt you feelings. |
