Not trying to be too crass here - does the weight of the passenger effect how difficult it is to control a bike? My physics degree says yes but I've never been on a bike to know.

Yes, to a degree. Trying to maneuver a bike with someone who isn't an 'experienced' passenger can be a little more of a challenge. The key to being safe as a passenger on a motorcycle is to let your body be lax and move in sync with the driver. When you do ride in sync with the driver the actual weight isn't too important. There's no reason to assume that womans weight had anything to do with causing the crash,if that's what you are implying  |

Interesting. "Mototaxis" seem to be ordinary all over Latinamerica, and I guess that the driver can't be sure that his customer is used to ride a bike as a passenger. So it must be a somewhat dangerous occupation (apart from the risk to be shot of course).
