A female cleaner for Thai Airways International was killed today when she was struck and dragged under a trailer hauling freight containers at an airport in Bangkok.

She was hit this morning while cleaning a plane and checking for suspicious objects in an aircraft parking bay and was dragged for nearly 100 metres.

She was found lying on the floor and later sent to a Hospital near the airport where she died short time after.

The driver of the vehicle fled the accident scene, but was later arrested. Some pieces of the victim's clothes were found on the freight trailer.

Interrogation found that the driver, 45, was towing 6 containers to a plane and crashed into the cleaner, who was standing in a blind spot, when he took a turn.

He was charged with reckless driving causing death. The accident took place as the airport celebrates its 9th anniversary. It opened for service on Sept 28, 2006.

Sounds like it was entirely an accident since she was in a blind spot. Guess he failed to follow some kind of safety protocol for that area with that kind of charge.

That's actually a nice airport. They have a whole bunch of duty free outlets there and it is very clean. Of course that was back in 2008. Anyway, just some useless information.
