FBI Ballistic Research Facility Slides: 2006 Pennsylvania Police Shooting
Dated July 7, 2008, Officer Involved Shooting is a 21-page briefing prepared by the Ballistic Research Facility within the FBI's Defensive Systems Unit at the FBI Academy. The slides are drawn from the document's middle section. It reviews a November 29, 2006 shooting at 6:00 pm involving a small Pennsylvania police department with 31 sworn officers and five officers per shift. Three officers discharged their weapons at an 18-year-old assailant carrying a .45 calibre pistol. The officers used Glock 22 pistols with Speer 180 grain Gold Dot ammunition and M4 rifles chambered with Hornady TAP. The publicly available version does not identify the department, the officers or the man shot. Such documents are produced as internal instructional material on wound ballistics and hit ratios, rather than public records, which is why the case has no press identity.
