Re: Fallen From A Height?
I would say its a fatality on the tracks. I've seen this sort of injury before as its in my line of work (Train Maintainer). Picture 4 - Can see where the flange on the wheel set has made a 'pinch-cut'.

Re: Fallen From A Height?
Doesn't really bother me to be honest. I work on the the class 373 rolling stock which is the fastest in UK. 186MPH so there isn't really much left of the casualty after the incident. Think about it..... 500 tonnes of rolling steel moving at 186mph. The body will pretty much vaporise. Rarely does happen if I'm honest as the tracks for the company I work for is highly secured - this being one of the reasons. It's amazing where you find bits of body though.... But you just got to think, It was their decision to take that step. Something in their life has happened which to them death has been the only way to get out of it. It's part of the life cycle and also doesn't help that 99% of the time these people will be under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs so that's enough to cloud their judgement. Maybe without these 'aids' they would still be here today but who knows. I've heard of cases on High Speed Lines where driver's haven't even known they've hit someone until the train behind them calls up the Signalman reporting a body on the track. It happens so quick that you would think you've only gone over a bit of a rough track join. |
