Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq

You know what, I get sick of people who have attitudes like you. I've been to the sandbox, I was stuck in Fallujah as a Marine for quite some time. when there is a checkpoint being conducted and someone does not stop when they are told to, they get shot. I'm pretty sure you've never been in uniform, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if you against the war. There is nothing wrong with that attitude, but believe me, you don't just open fire on a vehicle for no reason, you'd end up in a federal prison for the rest of your life for MURDER. These people obviously warranted actions that brought this escalation of force upon them. Damn near every unit's standard operating procedure calls for firing upon a vehicle that does not stop; it's not the unit or the guard's fault that some idiot retard from a third world country doesn't want to listen and comply. Sounds to me like the idiots got what was coming to them.
to right mate after all the terrorist beheadings you see on this sight how can anyone feel sympothy for these people or be against the war an by the way nice shot skorpion

Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq

Hello, I figured I would create my first post with a bang. To start off, I am a former U.S. Marine (2004-2008) and I am a combat veteran of the Iraq Campaign. I was deployed to the Al Anbar Province of Iraq in 2005 as part of a unit that performed security patrols, escorts, and various missions that I will not discuss in detail.

One day we were performing a vehicle patrol of the area when two Iraqi vehicles came racing toward us at a high rate of speed. After waving, shouting, and firing warning shots, the vehicles did not stop and were presumed to be VBIEDs (vehicle-bourne improvised explosive devices). We opened fire with M16A4s and a 240G 7.62 machine gun. Needless to say, the suicide drivers failed at their mission. One was seriously injured and taken into captivity after being hastily treated for his wounds. The other, which you see here, received bullet wounds to the chest and head. The pressure from the head impact actually caused the left eye to pop-out. If you look closely at the second picture, you can see the holes in the windshield from the kill shots. We were impressed with the outcome.
Thank you skorpion for serving.

Fucking-A Devin Dogs! We all have stories like that one. Its nice to have a place to share with other combat Marines that understand the choices that we all had to make and live with.
A+!

Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq

I think your perception of me is flawed. You came to several conclusions from one short statement. As far as me being against the war, gee what a shock! I must not be a "True American." I usually don't have strong political opinions. My interests lie elsewhere. As far as being against the war, I frankly don't have strong opinions either way. What I do care about is American soldiers being needlessly killed. My first memories of television are of Walter Cronkite reporting on the Vietnam war. That had a great impact on me as a child and I still hate to see our young men and women die. I don't consider the war in Iraq as protecting American freedom. To me, that's like saying "I'm going to the ghetto to kill known criminals so my family is safe in our home." I think the war is more financial than anything. That doesn't mean I have any issues with the Americans that are serving there. They deserve our respect and support, whether or not we believe in the cause they are fighting for. I have relatives there now, as I did in the Gulf War, Vietnam, Korea, my father in WWII, and ancestors in WWI, the Civil War and the American Revolution. I go to church (yeah, I know that's hard for some of you to believe, considering the crap I write on here) and we read out loud the names of friends and family who are over there and pray for them. I have never served in the military, but that doesn't mean that I don't love my country. Anybody that spends a week on this website should be thankful they live in a society like ours, even as fucked up as it is. My remark to this post was critical, yes, but I was expecting to hear about what happened regarding the possibility of explosives, etc. and it just came off as sounding like "Dude, we shot those guys dead." I understand that until someone is there, they will never truly understand what it is like. I know that if I was there, under that kind of pressure, in that kind of heat, carrying a weapon, I would totally lose my shit and go too far. Thankfully I am not there and thankfully I know myself well enough to know that. Most people would not admit to that. I hope that clears things up a bit.
a BETTER Analagy would be people on the other side of town are being starved raped and murdered on a daily bases but no one cares for thats not there neighborhood, untill the thugs ruling that neighborhood decide they would love to destroy yours say they dont like the fact you try and bring food or meds to there people, and you know eventually they will make it to your house, do you act before the get all the weapons they need to destroy you? Or do you save people you may not ever meet, and try to push the "bad guys" out of town. No one can see the future, but no one would have guessed that innocent people would have there planes slammed into buildings killing even more innocent. Come on man you saying go ahead and let them make all there moves first? They want to destroy us, they say it all day long! Do you realize if we do nothing they get a nuke, then everything changes, they may be on the otherside of town but beleave me a nuke will get your and my family. And thats not a chance I would take cuz when its to late its to late. Thank god for Pres. Bush he may not of been perfect and history may or may not get it right, but as far as im concerned he saved our country from more attacks. Beleave me they are trying to get to our neighborhoods, everyday they are trying

Re: Eye-popping Experience With a Machinegun in Iraq

I would agree... but the British have tea.. real warriors drink coffee! (just playin' around with ya, lol(but it is true:P))

Awesome pics and story skorpion! I always have the utmost respect for those serving in uniform. And it is a service, your country owns you, and you answer for whatever you country as a whole does. Thanks for doing what you do.

I'd love to serve as well, I was born in Jacksonville AFB, but I was kinda unlucky to be born with a leg disability, so I've never been considered for military service.. had a recruiter show up one day and it was awesome to talk to him, I'd have been a 4th generation man of service in my family.. but as soon as I mentioned my feet and knees, he politely excused himself and left.

But enough of my stories, yours has machine guns!

Now if only we could enforce our borders in the same fashion, we wouldn't have any problems with illegal aliens. Ya know? Seems like as a nation, we can act badass and lay whatever ground rules we want in someone ELSES country but when it comes to protecting our own borders, we become the biggest pussy nation on Earth.
