I dont think he felt a thing! He is in a relaxed state,no signs of a struggle,no clenched fists lividity!This guy is/was still in the"comfort zone"during his death. Do you think his spinal cord was severed at his brain stem causing immediate death? Is there such a thing?

It may well have been severed or damaged high up in the cervical area (upper neck) and a chain-reaction of injury caused death.

Bullets striking the back of a person and damaging the spinal cord can quite often cause loss of function below the site of injury
