There are two chemical organic compounds (found in liquid and gaseous forms) which are largely responsible for the foul odor associated with a rotting human cadaver. They are known as Putrescine and Cadaverine. The former is actually mass produced for industrial applications. They're both toxic in large amounts as well
Even the names smell bad
