It's true, it's known as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy or colloquially, broken heart syndrome. It happens after a significant stressor, either physical or emotional and results in a weakening of the heart muscle and cardiac output. It's usually self limiting/resolving but can lead to more severe consequences, like heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest etc etc

My dad died last year. Parents were together for 50 years. I moved my mom to my state / city to make sure she didn’t die from heartbreak or loneliness. Can’t imagine going through that myself. I’m the oldest (12 year difference) so - most likely will bite it first - but it’s hella sad to imagine either of us having to live through that.

Poor babies. Assuming they were good people. If not, then fuck ‘em.

But I’ll assume they were good.
