The identity of a man's body was found in a horrible condition with bruises on his chest, neck and genitals in Jalan Bangsar, last Thursday has been identified.

Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said the victim was a 25-year-old Pakistani and it was confirmed that his ex-wife appeared to make the identification.

According to him, a 31-year-old local woman came to the Brickfields District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 4.30pm yesterday to assist in the investigation.

"Also present was a Pakistani man who claimed to be a friend of the victim. The woman claimed to have been divorced from the victim since last October after three years of marriage," she said in a statement today.

Police said, they did the identification based on the pictures and clothes of the victim, but the body identification will be done tomorrow at the Forensic Pathology Department of the University of Malaya Medical Center.

"The victim is said to have run a perfume business with his ex-wife, but after the divorce he is no longer working.

"A check with the immigration department found that the victim's passport is valid until next February," police said.

The motive for the incident is still under investigation and the case was being investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Media previously reported that the body of a man was found in a horrible condition when his chest, neck and genitals were slit.

The body was found by members of the public at 5.30am on the road believed to have been thrown from a vehicle.

The incident caused the road to be closed for an hour from 7.30 am to 8.30 am to allow the police to conduct an investigation according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
