I don't get it either. Unless he was SO drunk that after he went to all the effort to find the rope, climb the tree, tie the knot, and come back down that when he put his head in the loop he just passed out from drunken exhaustion and then eventually died due to oxygen deprivation.

Just let yourself hang like for a few seconds and you are out, then dead. That's how a lot of those nuts that do the jerking off while hanging die. They think they will be able to just stand back up but with no blood to the brain in just a little time, seconds you pass out. Never to wake up again.

Its the way the rope is that makes it easy, it stops the blood to the brain by pressing on the two main arteries in the neck and you are dead in less than a minute, it isnt strangulation.
