What is the time frame for the family to view the body in the casket after death? Depending on climate, humidity and soil content, a body in a casket can stay the same as the day they buried it for DECADES. But here in U.S. we embalm.
I remember my father and many other men had to exhume caskets in a cemetery to be moved to another cemetery. One casket that was exhumed was that of a 9 year old girl who had died 100 years before and she still looked "fresh". When moving her by machine, they accidentally cracked the glass lid on her coffin and she turned completely black within minutes.
