On the morning of 19th September 2020 in Barranquilla (Dominican Republic), 29 year old K.R.C. was murdered.

'K' + her ex-boyfriend, A.R.C.C., were arguing in the street when he pulled out a knife + repeatedly stabbed her. 'A' tried to flee the scene but witnesses caught him + detained him until the police arrived.

An ambulance was called + 'K' was rushed to the hospital, but died a few hours later.

'K' had ended the relationship 4 days before the murder because 'A' had been dealing drugs. The 5 year long relationship resulted in a daughter, now 2 years old.


The following is a love letter that 'A' wrote for 'K' on 28th August.

Today is special because today is your birthday, for me no one is better than you, life put you in my way and I needed your love and good that you came and that you already got used to my way of living because it is until dying.

Thank you for what you give me love. I'm serious about you, love, and it's no joke.

I know that tone of voice, that body, that scent.

If love were to study, you would earn a diploma because ours remains strong as columns of Rome.

Today you celebrate another year of life and I celebrate, even if it doesn't seem like it. You're always in my brain, just to see you smile I'm glad you've had it with me through thick and thin.

We sail a continent together against the flow, only you and I know lp that it feels to fight for a love that grows like an avalanche.

Wherever you go, mom, you know I'm looking for you, and every passing moment you detail it. I would give you my heart if one day yours fails, getting you out of my side is to take the water to the beach.

God give you a thousand years so you never leave me baby.
