Dominican Republic Deaths, November 2022: Shootings, Traffic Crashes, Suicide
Several unconnected deaths occurred in the Dominican Republic over roughly a week in November 2022, rather than as part of one event. A man was shot at about 11:30 p.m. on November 17 in a sector of Navarrete, Santiago province. Five further deaths involved a 36-year-old man who hanged himself; a motorcyclist killed at night on Wednesday, November 16, by a cargo truck on Frank Grullon in San Francisco de Macoris; a man shot by police; a 34-year-old who died in a crash attributed to fog; and a motorcyclist hit by a minibus on November 22. Only the Frank Grullon fatality could be matched to reporting. The rider was locally identified as Engers Isaac Reyes Abreu, of the Los Rieles sector, and died at the scene. The two named locations are in separate provinces, further indicating these were separate cases.      |

A 36 year old killed himself last Thursday by hanging. Friends and family said they never saw him depressed or resentful.   |

On Wednesday night, the young EIRA died after being hit by a cargo truck on the Frank Grullon Avenue bridge in San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province. Eyewitnesses to the event reported that as soon as the event happened, the truck driver fled. The young man lost his life instantly after being hit by the vehicle. Sources inform us that he was a motorcycle pilot and was a native of Los Rieles in that city.   |

22nd November. A young man who was riding a motorcycle was hit by a minibus at a time when he tried to avoid being hit by a truck.        |
