Dominican DJ Puto Suicide in Cristo Rey, Santo Domingo, December 2018
In Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, young DJ Alexander Nova, professionally known as DJ Puto, died by suicide on or about December 10, 2018, in the city's Cristo Rey sector. He had worked in clubs across Villa Mella, Villas Agricolas and Cristo Rey. Local neighborhood and national media reports linked his death to personal difficulties. His name also appeared in a year-end account of DJ deaths that said neighbors had mentioned debts he was unable to repay. No reported motive was officially established.
