Police divers recovered the dismembered remains of Japanese-language teacher Yoshinori Shimato, 79, from Khlong Nang Thim in Samut Prakan province, Thailand, in October 2014. His remains had been placed in four sacks and dumped in the canal. Shimato, a longtime Thailand resident, had been reported missing by his son after he was last seen on September 21, 2014.

Taxi driver Somchai Kaewbangyang admitted suffocating Shimato with a pillow, dismembering his body and dumping the remains. He was convicted of premeditated murder and sentenced to life in prison, later commuted to 33 years and four months because of his confession. Pornchanok Chaiyapa, Shimato's companion and Somchai's partner, received a 20-year sentence for concealing the body and stealing from Shimato. Her conviction was upheld on appeal.

Jesus look at the putrefaction. I can smell that from here. Cannot believe that one guy arranging the remains isn't wearing a mask...I'd be puking all over the evidence.

i misread title, Divers Murdered The Body Of A Recovered Teacher

[lkduke3]

Gag me. Why do killers insist on putting the body parts in trash bags which keeps them somewhat preserved and together in nice little parcel???? Let nature take its course and spread them far and wide.

I had to recheck it KH, you made me think I typed it wrong lol

[Oswald2001]

No doubt this is going to have a negative impact on the suspect's next report card.

Few sights on DR literally make me want to puke. This is one of them.

PHUKET: Suspect 'confesses' to Shimato murder

BANGKOK: A key suspect charged in connection with the murder of Japanese teacher Yoshinori Shimato has confessed to killing the victim before chopping up the body and throwing the pieces into a canal, a senior police officer has said.

Somsak Saelim, the key witness in the death of Kasitosi Tanaka, admitted to police the death was not an accident as he had been forced to claim at the time by his elder brother.

Mr Somsak on Saturday said he decided to come clean after learning that Samut Prakan police had re-opened the case following the arrest of his brother Somchai Kaewbangyang and Pornchanok Chaiyapa, 47 — Somchai's former partner and Tanaka's widow — who were both charged with the murder of another Japanese man, Yoshinori Shimato, 79, last week.

Pol Lt Col Somchai Phiakhan, the head of the re-opened case, said Mr Somsak was unlikely to be charged.

Black widow confession: Thai partner says he is the killer
Tanaka's death in 2003 was considered an accident until the late businessman's daughter lodged a petition last week calling into question the verdict that her father died from a heart attack after falling down the stairs.

Mr Somsak told police he was forced by Ms Pornchanok to tell police that his brother was not at Tanaka's shophouse the night he died.

Mr Somchai has confessed to murdering Tanaka and disguising it as an accident.

However, Pol Lt Col Chaiwat Thapanaphongphaibul, the investigator with Bang Phli district police station in charge of the original probe into Tanaka's death, would face an investigation to determine whether he distorted evidence so Tanaka's death was recorded as an accident.

Both Mr Somchai and Ms Pornchanok have been charged with the premeditated murder of Tanaka.

They were charged after Mr Somchai confessed to colluding with Ms Pornchanok in killing Shimato and dismembering his body before stuffing it into four sacks and dumping them in a canal in Samut Prakan on Sept 21.

Police began their search for Shimato after his son lodged a complaint about his disappearance.

Nothing like going through all that trouble of hacking up the body, bagging the parts and throwing the bags into the water just to be caught.
