Dismembered Skeleton With a Skull in the Teacher's Quarters

18.04.2024 - Two workers tasked with cleaning the area of an abandoned teacher's quarters building in Membakut were surprised by the discovery of several bone parts believed to be human skeletons yesterday. In the discovery at about 9 o'clock in the morning, the human skeleton was found in a room. Acting Beaufort District Police Chief, Assistant Superintendent Weddrin Mojingkin said the two workers involved were tasked with cleaning the area of the building that had been abandoned for the past five years.

"The results of the investigation found that the human skeleton involved was still fully clothed and lying on his back. However, the body of the skeleton was separated from the skull found on the side of the body. Based on the condition of the body, which only had bones left, the period of death was estimated to have been long. It is understood that this place has been left empty for a long time without occupants since about five years ago," he said when contacted today.

According to Weddrin, further investigation also found a round knotted white wire hanging above the fan in the room in addition to a collapsed plastic chair near the position of the body.

"The identity of the body has so far not been identified and the police have not found any evidence of a crime at the place of discovery. The investigation papers have now been opened and classified as sudden death based on the investigation of the location of the incident," he said.

Meanwhile, Weddrin informed that all the bones have been sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) for post-mortem purposes to identify the identity of the victim and the true cause of death.

"Efforts to find civilians who have lost family members are also being actively carried out," he said.
