Dismembered Remains of Burmese Woman Found in Plastic Box
Bangkok, Thailand The remains of a 34-year-old Myanmar national, Aye Aye Nwe, who worked as a bar waitress in the Klong Toey area of Bangkok, was found inside a black plastic storage box on the rear balcony of a rented room. Police and rescuers had been called after neighbours reported a strong odour. The abdomen had been cut open. The head, arms, and lower legs were not found, with police examining the apartment's septic system and drains in the hope of location additional remains. Aye's husband, 36-year-old pub cook Aung Pyae, was suspected of killing and dismembered his wife. It was reported he seemed to be stressed in the days leading up to the discovery of the remains. CCTV footage from the 10th captured him, in an agitated state of mind, running from the scene and carrying a large black bag. Thai authorities issued an arrest warrant and coordinated with Myanmar police, who detained Aung Pyae in Yangon. Plans are underway to extradite him to Thailand. |
