You will note defensive wounds on her hands, broken fingernails, etc. The scene report said she put up a fierce struggle. But eventually she was held down, strangled, and beaten.

Oh and that black shit on her eye in the close-up photo? Cigarette burn. They apparently burnt her eye out with cigarettes while she was being held down. Probably after she gave one of them a good gouge to the cheek or a knee to the balls.
