What you are seeing here is a post-mortem examination of the eye socket after severe trauma to the eye. The incisions are far too neat for pure trauma, and note the lack of clotted blood along the wound edges. The eye and surrounding orbit were likely removed to ascertain the amount of damage to the underlying tissues, maybe in the hopes of determining what or how the victim was struck with.
