A woman, identified as Maria R.P., 49, was found dead inside her home on Wednesday morning (3) in the Cidade de Deus neighbourhood, in the North Zone of Manaus, Amazonas state, Brazil.

The body was found by the victim's brother and had a rope wrapped around her neck. Her hands were tied, and the body was in an advanced state of putrefaction.

Family members suspect that the victim's cousin may have been involved in the crime, as he was seen leaving the victim's house last Monday (1), the day the woman was last seen alive. Witnesses also reported that the victim always helped her cousin, who is a drug user. He has not been seen since the victim's death.
