Decomposing Body of Drowned Man Found in River

DR, Two days ago the decomposing body, of a man missing for 17 days, was found in a river. Supposedly the man would have gone out to look for some passion fruit and fell into the river and drowned. He was identified as the missing person, J.

I'd like to know why the skull always rots first?
Perhaps because of the multiple openings, and bacteria, etc. can easily find a way in?

Maybe a few little fishies were nibbling on his skull.
I think they were wearing the masks because of Covid-19. I would've been more worried about catching other stuff! Yuck!
