The decomposed body of a man was found with a dismembered head in the Bukit Gedung forest reserve, 50 metres from Jalan Mayang Pasir, Bayan Baru, here today (04/02/14).
Barat Daya Police Chief Supt Lai Fah Hin said the deceased's head was found hanging by a root on a three-metre high tree by a passerby at 5pm.

"Based on the stench of the body, police believe the man had died more than two weeks ago," he told reporters at the scene.

She said the body was found lying face down and clothed. No identification documents were found on the body.

Lai said the police were reviewing missing person reports to ascertain the victim's identity and asked anyone with missing family members or have information on the incident to contact the nearest police station.

The body was sent to the Penang Hospital for post-mortem and initial investigations have classififed the case as sudden death.
