Residents of Yalho locality, which is about 50 Km south of Bosaso town, found this morning two dead bodies lying on the roadside.
The two dead bodies, presumably Puntland soldiers, are mutilated, beheaded, and the sight of the dead bodies is heartbreaking.
It was the summer of last year, when the president of Puntland, Abdirahman Farole, claimed that militia loyal to Al-Shabaab Islamic Movement were seeking a safe haven at Galgala Mountains in Bari region. The president accused those militia of trying to undermine peace in the region and vowed that his government would immediately fight them. Subsequently, hundreds of puntland troops, armed with heavy weapons and armored vehicles, have been deployed in Galgala mountains, to fight armed insurgents.
The discovery of these two dead bodies presents a nightmarish scenario of Puntland security.
The below three pictures show the mutilated, beheaded bodies, presumably former Puntland soldiers.
