Death Mix (Brazil, Cambodia)
1. In the early hours of 26th September 2021 in Manaus (Brazil), 33 year old E.F.d.S. was murdered. 'E', the wife of a drug dealer + former CV member, was inside her home when armed men invaded the property. The gunmen released everyone in the home, except for 'E'; they shot her dead. 'E', who used a fake ID, had a long police record for theft + had served prison time. 2. A young man died when he was electrocuted whilst charging his mobile phone. Late September 2021, Cambodia. 3. On the afternoon of 26th September 2021 in Iranduba (Brazil), M.D. lost his life. 'M' was riding his motorbike at high speed when he crashed into a container of the military police station.

Re: Death Mix (Brazil, Cambodia)
Pertaining to #2, could someone explain how, by charging their phones, these people are being electrocuted to death? I’ve seen this on here a few times. Super sad.

The transformer (yellow rectangular thingy in pic) provides isolation between the primary (mains) and secondary (phone) if there is a breakdown in the windings between primary and secondary, then mains voltage will be present at the output. The electrolytic capacitor(which is on the secondary to act as a filter, or smoother is blown up, showing that mains voltage was applied to it.

Re: Death Mix (Brazil, Cambodia)
Further to Rohmell’s excellent explanation, (and trying to remember my high school electrical studies) you are taking much higher mains voltage (240/230 volts here in Australia) and “stepping it down” to whatever the device takes by significantly reducing the voltage. You can also “step up” the voltage with a different transformer. If the step down transformer is compromised then you get mains current where you really don’t want it.
