Age of consent in Mexico is 12 if I remember correctly, so real young pregnancies are common, that’s why they have the huge family in a single home stereo type, pretty fucked up

The only 'good' thing about this is that she had her children with someone the same age as her. It turns my stomach when it's a bloke several decades older.

That only reveals your personal prejudice. The relationship decisions of others are no concern of yours. You are not entitled to impose the norms of your culture on other peoples. This is the very definition of cultural imperialism.

Re: Death Mix (3 Mexican Women + 2 Brazilian Men)
Also, it’s 14 in Mexico, not 12, and you can still be charged with corruption of a minor if the police decide you’re not in a healthy relationship, so it’s actually more restrictive than for instance Denmark, where teen pregnancies are lower by far. The main problem is that Mexico isn’t a place you can easily tell someone if you’re in a bad situation and then leave that situation easily, plus they kind of suck at sex education so nobody has any idea what is and isn’t okay, and there is little use of contraceptives. I’d worry more about those than what age the police will get involved, considering just how many parents equipped with dull machetes (and itching to use them) they must have over there to address the insult to their family before police even hear about it. Cultural imperialism is fine by me, but it helps to have an eye to what actually impacts quality of life, and the age of consent is remarkably low on the list of concerns in terms of real life abuse frequency. The douches don’t care, and the rest mostly can’t get it up with someone who is scared or in pain, so it matters more if the douches think they are likely to get caught, which improves with openness and education and so forth, not with raising the stakes without raising the risk of getting caught. |

Re: Death Mix (3 Mexican Women + 2 Brazilian Men)
Pregnant at 16 is nothing new. They have shows here in the States and in the UK about teens who are pregnant at/before 16! I remember the first movie I watched where a teen was pregnant: 15 and Pregnant w/Kristin Dunst. But I had already watched pregnant teen girls on talk shows much earlier than 1998. I mean I wouldn’t want my own child to be a teen parent, but this is nothing new....everywhere in the whole world. |
