Of all serial killer stories, this case fascinated me the most. When I was 8, I was so engrossed with sneaking up on and catching a frog at the edge of the pond n next to my childhood house that I failed to noticed a man sneaking up on ME from behind. My mother was at the window and noticed the predator and screamed for my sister to run outside and warn me. The man turned and fled to his car and sped off. I'm haunted by that day and what might have happened if my mother hadn ot been at that window nursing her nicotine addiction.

Sadly, a lot of the victims in the Dean Corll case were really stupid, in some cases getting into random cars/vans at the promise of some pot and a party. Perfect victims for a psycho killer and conditions that allow them to flourish. Hell, one kid's brother disappeared a year earlier and he still got into a car with someone he didn't know very well and ended up buried with his brother in the boat shed/boneyard after Corll had his three or four days of rape, torture and murder-fun with him. You don't get dumber than that. They surely didn't deserve what happened to them but, damn, use some common sense. There are very sound theories that Corll's body count was MUCH higher than 28 since the idiotic local police chief stopped looking for bodies once they broke Califonia's record of a single serial killer's body count (Juan Corona) even though Henley said there were more victims buried that he was willing to help them locate but they no longer cared. And at least three years before Corll was thought to have killed his first victim, he was seen by several witnesses burying something on the proptery of his candy factory which he later covered with cement. "It's old candy" he claimed when asked. At the time, employees noticed the large rolls of plastic hanging around his shop that were the exact type that Corll rolled his victims in but authorities no longer cared because they had already broken the record. So we got poor kids like the one in the Polaroid handcuffed into a hole in the floor that just disappeared off the face of the earth with not even a name to their memory because no one gave a shit to look for more bodies

This case really had me sick. I read everything he did to these young innocent boys and it bothered me for days. One post said the boys were screaming for their moms and died in so much pain they had screams on their faces when found in rigamortus. I have an 11 yr old son this can happen to anyone. They trusted a friend and were expecting a good time but little did they know what was awaiting them. I truly hope dean and his accomplices Rot in hell forever.

Always gets me when detectives put their hands over their faces, either from disgust or shock, when they’ve been dealing with human remains....also how they’ll wear gloves, but be up to their knees and covered in grave dirt. You don’t have to touch it, you’re still gonna have to burn your clothes after that. Lol

RIP to the many young victims. The pain of grief in the mother is almost unbearable.

I recall reading a book about this "The Man With The Candy" in the 1970's. Or partially reading it. It was taken away from me as "inappropriate" reading material (according to my mother). My father was aghast that I would even WANT to read about something so horrible. Sigh. Censorship.

How can three people be all involved in this? Is there something buried inside people to be this evil? Why is it so fascinating to read about these demented people? I don't understand, but I read all of it even though it is so wicked and horrible, I was fascinated.

Maybe being tied up and having his own life threatened is what he needed to finally be able to empathize w/ their victims
