Re: *Dead Women Thread* (NEW)
The bodies of Anayibis Peláez Quintero (first photo) and her daughter Yira Patricia Peláez Quintero (second photo) were discovered on the side of the road about 800 meters apart in La Esmeralda, Colombia. Both had been killed by multiple gunshot wounds to the face and upper chest. Anayibis was formerly engaged to a paramilitary guerilla leader of the ENL, who was himself assassinated three years ago. It is unclear what, if any, relationship she had with the group now. Her daughter (who was not the daughter of the guerilla leader) was a veterinarian with one young child and no record of paramilitary affiliation at all. The daughter, Yira, was alleged kidnapped from her place of work by a truck of armed men. Her mother went in search of her and both bodies were discovered a few hours later. The area where they were found is FARC territory and known for violence related to the paramilitary organization. Right now, all images I have are censored or cropped and of varying quality. I also cannot locate any antemortems thus far. Putting the limited set up here in this thread in the off chance that it prompts someone to find more or clearer images. |

Re: *Dead Women Thread* (NEW)
Ecuador A 38-year-old woman, Laura R.V., was shot dead whilst driving her car in Manta, Manabí province. Her eight-year-old daughter was also hit, but is out of danger, whilst two other relatives in the vehicle were uninjured. Police found evidence of at least sixteen shots being fired at the scene. Reportedly, Laura was the cousin of Jorge Luis Zambrano, a prominent drug trafficker and leader of the 'Los Choneros' cartel, who was shot dead in a mall cafeteria in 2020. Didn't know whether to dump it here, or dedicate a thread to this case, given her familial connections. If I stumble upon more imagery, I'll request it get moved. |

Re: *Dead Women Thread* (NEW)
Two recent Brazilian cases. In Teresina, Piauí, the bodies of two young women were found buried in a shallow grave. DNA testing is underway, but it is extremely likely that the bodies belong to two sisters - Francinete P.d.S.N. (first pic), 24, and Jocinéia D.d.S., 23. Preliminary information ("grooves on the bodies") indicated that both women were subject to violence, but due to the degree of decomposition, how they died remains unclear. On the 14th, both sisters went missing after using a rideshare app to travel to an unknown destination. Before that, they left their children - aged 4 and 6 - in the care of third parties. According to a local police delegate, there is information that both sisters were members of the PCC gang, but were in a relationship with members of a rival faction. In Feira de Santana, Bahia, 20-year-old Karla R.S. was shot more than ten times inside the bedroom of her residence. She was killed in front of her hearing-impaired mother. |

43 year old María Elizabeth Betancourt Peraza in Guanare, Venezuala was shot dead in the street yesterday afternoon. She had hired a motorcycle-taxi to take her to the area where she was killed. Once she got off of the bike and removed her helmet, two men approached from the rear and shot her twice in the back and side of the head. She fell and was killed instantly; the assailants fled on foot. They did not rob her or remove any of her belongings. No motive is known for the daylight murder. |
