Yeah it looks like he’s alive. So dead men’s fingers go white when held together? It looks like movement of blood flow etc. If he’s died, it’d be a pretty recent death with no post mortem treatment just an immediate funeral half an hour alter. He looks like he’s still warm.

I hate to tell you this but there is nothing unnatural about death; everyone does it, sooner or later. And I highly doubt that, for example, a 2 year old who drowns in a swimming pool did anything to “offend God”. Don’t go spouting your religious nonsense while you’re on a gore site, it’s hypocritical and boring.
