The human body only becomes buoyant after being submerged for 12 hours or so, prior to that it sinks, something to do with Co2 build up in the blood or something like that.
Co2 is a gas, less buoyant than water. Yes, that does build up, but it only adds to the buoyancy of the body. Why do you think mobsters use concrete weights on the feet when they try to hide a body? They don't do it for the sport.
