Dead Bodies Posed for Pictures
on some of the pics you can see the stand used to hold the bodies up and the girl with her parents the eyes have been painted on pretty damn creepy.

On one of the DR threads, this custom was acted upon in very recent times. I saw several pix of the deceased propped up in the corner during his funeral at his home, while the mourners milled about. I forgot the name of the thread...anyone happen to remember which one?

i love these photos i have seen so many it was an old west tradition and done in the 1800s so the family could have photos of the deceased.

It doesn't make sense nowadays where everyone has hundreds of photos taken in life. For this people, a photo was a memorable event. Cameras where not widespread, they were restricted to people with specific skills and expensive. So, taking a picture right after dead made some sense, grab an image of the departed. Still creepy.
