Dave Abello and Jessie Tolero Shot Dead, San Jose del Monte, August 5 2016
At about half past twelve on the afternoon of Friday, August 5, 2016, Dave Manipol Abello and his pregnant partner, Jessie Tolero, were shot at close range in the head on Quirino Highway in Barangay Minuyan Proper, City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, in the Philippines. They had just attended a hearing concerning a complaint they had made against the man who shot them. The conflict started after Abello reported the man for motorcycle theft. The couple later brought a barangay complaint alleging death threats and physical injuries. The barangay captain said settlement discussions had taken place, with the couple seeking thirty thousand pesos while the man said he could provide only five thousand. CCTV recorded the shooting, and the video was widely circulated. The gunman escaped by motorcycle and stayed at large for nearly four years, until his May 2020 arrest in Olongapo City on a warrant for two counts of murder. No conviction has been reported. Although the shooting occurred on that date, no reporting links it to the anti-drug campaign; all accounts describe it as a personal dispute.  ·  ·  · |

Any update regarding the arrest of the suspect? Last time I heard, the suspect was on the run. It's nice to have a fellow Filipino who's quite active here. |
