Darshwini Premkumar: Malaysian Woman's Death, 2016
Darshwini Premkumar, a 21-year-old private-college student, died after falling from a 16th-floor apartment unit in the Island Park area of George Town, Penang, Malaysia, in late May 2016. Police classified her death as a sudden-death case and said she fell from an apartment unit, not from the roof. Investigators were examining whether depression or another cause was involved. No criminal element was reported, and no official cause, motive or later ruling was published. Her family asked the public to stop circulating photographs and spreading rumors about her death. Police and the family said a video presented online as footage of Darshwini's fall actually showed a male victim in an unrelated incident in China. A person who claimed online to have been her boyfriend for more than four years was also identified by the family as making a false claim.     |

Man, this one hits me hard. She looks just like two Indian women I have worked with. I can't imagine what could be so bad for her that this seemed like a good alternative. :-(

Well women are treated worse than animals in most parts of Asia, so maybe someone did something bad to her that she couldn't accept/handle

Sexual abuse, fear of single motherhood, struggling with homosexuality, or giving it up to a guy who then kicks them to the curb are common reasons for suicides in SE Asia.
