I actually think it's like that in a lot of places. I ride but I ride on bike trails. There is one particularly road near me that is dangerous in a car alone. It is winding, plenty of blind spots and one lane each way with plenty of deer. There are riders there who literally ride in the middle of the road where drivers are blind to them until the last second.

I live in Adelaide and we get the "Tour Down Under" every year. Every weekend afterwards (For about 3-4 months at least), the country roads are clogged with them. Amatuer Pelotons 4 or 5 abreast, 25+bikes on 110km/h Posted roads! One of these days someone is gonna crest a hill at speed, spot them, not have enough time to slow down, and mow down a bunch of these guys! |
