The Cremation Process
Images from Rookwood Gardens and crematorium, Austrailia The casket is put into the top level of the cremator's chamber and then burnt. All ornaments and fittings are left on the casket, except the name plate. The fittings are burnt with the coffin as they are typically made of plastic. When the body is burnt, bones and calcium deposits drop through to the second level of the chamber. ![]() ![]() It takes one to one and a half hours to burn a body at a heat source of 900 degrees Celsius. About 80kg will burn each hour. ![]() Only one body is cremated at a time - the cremator's chamber fits only one casket. When the remains have cooled, they are scanned for metallic prostheses and coffin components. A magnet is sometimes used to remove steel nails and screws.Only one body is cremated at a time - the cremator's chamber fits only one casket. Re: The Cremation Process
They don't always mill down the bones. I was at a cliff and found someone had tried to toss over the ashes of a relative. For the most part they failed. There were bone fragments concentrated in a small area. I retrieved a few and tossed them in the surf off a well known California beach. I decided the deceased deserved an extra place to haunt. LOL.

Re: The Cremation Process
The plastis handels ect have to be removed now becuse the smoke passes over a sensor and if mr health and safty want to check he can tell plastic has been burnt and he will issue a fine, also if the body has a pace maker that has to be removed as its a small bomb with a very loud bang.

Re: The Cremation Process
My mom wants to be cremated and this really disturbs me. I don't think from her religious prespective this is what God meant when he said "dust to dust." I just cringe thinking about my beloved mother being burnt to ash like she is a bag of junk |

Re: The Cremation Process
Basic knowledge about cremation proves all documented 'facts' about the burning of bodies during the Holocaust wrong. Even this thread.
