Monday (22/07/13) a truck hit an animal on the road. The driver of another truck in the same direction tried to avoid a rear end collision by pulling out in the other lane - where he instead collided head on with a car.

The couple in the car - a 58 years old man and a much younger woman, who isn't identified - were killed on the spot, and the rescue personel had to take the car apart to get the victims out (See video in the next post).

The truck driver fled the scene, but at least he called the emergency service, before he ran away.

One of the images of the dead woman is of lower quality than the rest, which (except the image of the covered victim) seem to come from the same set, even if they are a mix from two sites.

There is one or two images of the dead donkey too, but I don't post it - it is (imho) both boring and irrelevant.

As far as I can see, it is the male victim they are pulling out, but is is difficult to see - the quality isn't great.

Looks like a donkey from the images I've seen. I have seen a lot of other accidents with animals implied, and it seems to be quite usual with donkeys walking around on the roads in Brazil.

Just a reminder that we are alive and minding our own business and then all of a sudden death can take you at any second.
Just a sad situation for them. It looks like they didnt have a chance to react, so hopefully they died quickly.
BTW, looks like a yellow truck hit them.

Must have been a hefty animal as you wouldn't swerve and risk an accident for a rabbit

I believe the poster said it was a donkey.
Now thats big enough to move over, but too bad the orig driver couldnt stop fast enough, but chose to go on coming traffic.
Bad decision which caused some innocent people their lives.

I guess that what happened was exactly what scares the hell out of me on any major road in Europe (east or west makes no difference): Truckers drive at 90 km/h with at best a few meters between the vehicles. They don't have a chance, if the truck in front of them suddenly slows down or is stopped. As I have grown older and more carefull (read: scared), I simply let them overtake and get away from me instead of ending up as the middle part of a sandwich between two trucks

In this case the second driver tried to save his own life by pulling out - just to kill two innocent people coming against him in their own lane. No matter how carefull you drive, you can't protect yourself against that. Disgusting. Not that he should have killed himself, but he could have kept the nescessary distance. I really hope that they get hold of him and that he will rot in jail.
