The couple killed themselves by jumping into the waters, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines on April 3, 2017. The girlfriend's family's objection of their relationship motivated them to commit suicide.

They didn't drown, but died of poisoning from the shit and filth that is pumped and thrown into every river, drain or stream in that country.

Agreed. But wouldn't the better decision be to marry anyway and give the family the middle finger? Guess I'm too spoiled to understand the intense pressures of a controlling family. The most I would have gotten is a raised eyebrow. Poor things. What a waste.
