It almost looks like there are two entry wounds. The exit wound that can be seen, does not look to be a fatal wound, being it went in under his chin, then out of his upper maxillary area. Not a fatal wound. But... the second entry wound that is further under his chin, probably is the one that did kill, being it more than likely entered his skull and possibly exited from the top of his head, which is cropped out of the photo. In many suicide attempts and successful suicides, I noticed that with the popularity of various larger caliber semi-automatic handguns and other semi-automatic weapons, the bodies will sometimes have more than one bullet wound. When I made Detective Sargent in the Homicide Division, most people had and used revolvers. At that time almost all LEO still carried revolvers as well. I only saw two or three with more than one "GSW"(Gun Shot Wound) and that was due to not killing themselves the first go at it, and they had to shoot again to get the job done. As more semi-automatic weapons became more and more popular, the number of GSW's increased as well. It was not that the person was actually intending to shoot themselves more than once, but it is attributed to a weapons principal know as "bump firing". Almost any semi-automatic weapon can be bump-fired, it is a way of manipulating the trigger in order to closely mimic, full-automatic fire from a semi-automatic weapon. A suicide attempt is just about the ideal set-up for a secondary bump-fired weapon's discharge. I won't go into the physics of why, but people that are really familiar with semi-automatic weapons, more than likely already know, and those that don't, will have to learn about it from other sources. Generally, as male versus female GSW suicides, the males outnumber the females, but, the females are catching up. Most males shoot for the brain, while most females used to go for the heart or chest, but now, more and more females are shooting themselves in the head, and using larger and larger weapons and semi-automatic weapons to do so as well. I have personally seen, only two females that had more than one GSW suicide and both of those used a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Many women did use a smaller caliber weapon in the past, this was due to females wanting to still "look good" even in death, so they used weapons such as a .22 or a .25ACP but some are even going all the way with 12gauge shotguns now. They could care less about what they will look like when found. Enough rambling on... Cabriolet.  |

He probably got shot by some jealous boyfriend, after noticing the guy's name pissed in the snow but in his girlfriend's handwriting!  |
