You are not kidding about that. Most of the pictures I have seen of the cities and the area near that river are just filthy. The slums are amazingly the creepiest and dirtiest places on the planet. Imagine narrow alley ways running with sewage and garbage. Here you go, take a dump outside the front curtain (no doors). But, by all means let the shit and bodies float in the river no need to worry about disease or anything. Nasty place.

Indians bathe and drink the water. Their bodies have built up an immunity to the bacteria and other goodies that are in the river. The weirdo Doctor from Bite Me drank the water and ended up with a parasite of some sort in his digestive system. The Indian doctor that examined his poop said that foreigners' can't handle drinking it.
