CJNG Gunmen Killed in Shootout With the Army, Michoacan, April 2023
An army patrol came under attack from armed men on April 24, 2023, in San Rafael Tecario, Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoacan, Mexico, close to the Maravatio border. Soldiers fired back, leaving six suspected Jalisco New Generation Cartel gunmen dead and one soldier killed, although later reports placed the death toll as high as eight. Authorities detained six people, including one who was injured, and the army confiscated 12 AK-type rifles and three vehicles.
