Tamaulipas officials are investigating the kidnapping and murder of a Reynosa doctor, also a supposed citizen journalist who denounced violence in the troubled state. A press release by the State of Tamaulipas says she was kidnapped around noon Wednesday in the border city by a group of unidentified armed people.

The Twitter account associated with her name, @Miut3, was hacked by kidnappers, who later Tweeted a photo of a bloody, lifeless body on Thursday morning.

The status that accompanied the photo suggested people close their accounts in order to not risk the lives of their families. Other Tweets stated, "Today my life has reached its end" and "I can only tell you to not make the same mistake I did," according to Twitter screen shots posted online.

Twitter has since suspended the account.

Her Twitter account was once used to share information about possible shootouts within the heavy gang and drug cartel community, but has since been suspended.

The state of Tamaulipas borders Texas from east Laredo to the Gulf of Mexico. Violence in the state has risen along with the presence of drug cartels, leading to killings of social media users and journalists in the state.
