In the Amazon, kids 3 and up run around with freaking crocodile dundee knives!! It's part of their culture and its a tool, not a toy. Hell, while I was there we had 3 kids paddle up the Amazon to our camp in a dugout canoe. I don't think the oldest was 10 years old.

And here in America we don't even let our kids ride their bikes to school any more.....
