Christine Dacera: Flight Attendant's Death and the Dismissed Charges

After attending a party, Christine Dacera, 23, was discovered unresponsive in a bath tub at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati on New Year's Day 2021. The Philippine Airlines flight attendant was declared dead upon arrival at a hospital. She was also referred to as Flight Attendant C.A.D. Police initially sought rape and homicide complaints against 11 companions. So far, eleven people have been charged with raped and homicide.

Insufficient evidence led prosecutors to reject the complaints in April 2021. The outstanding complaints involving drugs, obstruction and perjury were then dismissed by the Makati prosecutor in February 2022. A ruptured aortic aneurysm was listed as the cause of death in the police autopsy, but her family challenged that conclusion. Beyond one extremely blury death image and photographs documenting her bruises, little death photography could be found.

Screen grabs of CCTV footage showed the hours leading up to the death of a 23-year-old flight attendant who was found lifeless in a Makati hotel room on New Year’s Day.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s “24 Oras” report, the footage showed Christine Dacera with male friends in the hallway outside her hotel room.

In one screenshot dated December 31, 11:38 p.m., Christine was seen carrying her heels and a wine glass beside two guys outside Room 2209.

In another screen grab, dated January 1, 3:22 a.m., Christine was seen barefoot talking to three men, while one other guy was looking on at them from the doorway of a room.

Just seconds later, Christine could be seen talking to one guy, while two other men were seen walking away and three more were looking on from the end of the hallway.

The footage is being reviewed by police.

Dacera was found dead in the bathtub around noontime of January 1.

This is a developing case here. Not much information is yet known about the nature of the case, or if even there is rape involved due to lots of conflicting statements and evidences like autopsy reports. Personally, I want a televised court hearing/trial for this one to make sure real justice must be served, the guilty be charged and the innocent cleared. As part of the Filipino nation shaken by this case, we all demand true justice.
