Chinese Woman Murdered and Thrown into Sea Near Pattaya

On the 10th of January, a Rip-Curl travel bag was found containing the body of a woman, on the beach of Bang Phra. The woman had been strangled, hands and feet bound, and tucked into the bag. Because her body had been in the sea for two days or more, her body became bloated and only identifiable through her tattoos.

Her Taiwanese "husband" was arrested on the 12th of January, and he stated that he had a heated argument with her, about whether their newborn child should be of Taiwanese or Chinese nationality. He killed her in a fit of rage and then disposed of her corpse.

Since neither the murderer nor the victim was Thai, most Thai media considered this end of story.

However, multiple Taiwanese sources reported that the Taiwanese man was wanted by the Taiwanese police, for multiple charges of fraud, forgery, and embezzlement. He had been working in the tourism industry and scammed a lot of tourists. After he had become wanted, he fled to Thailand.

A mainland Chinese media reported that the Taiwanese man has scammed the Chinese woman and her relatives for quite a large sum of money. Also, their "marriage" was also a fraud; the Thai government found no record of their "marriage".
