An 18-year-old, Marcelle J.A.d.S., was murdered by a 35-year-old Chinese businessman, Zhaohu Qiu.

Marcelle had disappeared on the early hours of the 12th. CCTV footage showed her entering Zhaohu's house. A few hours later, CCTV captured Zhaohu leaving the house pushing a wheelbarrow, covered by a blue tarp.

Days later, her body was found underneath a blue tarp in an under-construction house, which was owned by Zhaohu. Witnesses reported having seen pitbull dogs feeding on the body.

Zhaohu owned a yakisoba trailer in Pavuna, and regularly had parties with young people. A woman told police that, suspicious over Marcelle's disappearance, she sought out another woman who had dated Zhaohu - and it turned out that Zhaohu had sent this woman a text message, confessing to the crime.

Zhaohu fled, but was arrested in São Paulo state a few days later.
