Re: Cambodian Death Mix
Regarding #2. In Tucson, there was a Pizza place called "Zachary's". It had the best pizza I EVER tasted. The guy who owned it was also the pizza chef. He had employees who prepped ingredients, but ONLY HE made the pizzas. He had one, called the "Tyranosaurus Rex" that was made with every kind of meat you can imagine. Anyway, they had a huge following in Tucson. He was close friends with a guy who was a musician, also kind of a drunk, but apparently a really nice guy. (The man who owned Zachary's was ALSO a musician, but they were both amateurs, but both really enthusiastic.) When I say they were close, I mean closer than brothers. Not homos, but absolutely best friends. One day, I go in there to pick up a pizza, and one of the girls tells me that this friend of the owner had gotten drunk, slipped in the shower, landed on his back, and separated his spine at the skull, by accident. Of course, he was dead right there. Within 2 weeks the owner announced he was closing the restaurant. I went there several times, ordered pizzas, and took them home and put them in my freezer, and my mom's freezer, until they both were jammed. I asked one of the girls who worked there about the recipes the guy used, and she said there were all kinds of people trying to find out the specific recipes, but the guy kept them all secret. No one knew how he made the pizzas. The people who did the prep work only prepped the vegetables and meats. They never were allowed to make any sauces, or to even make an entire pizza. Several of the chicks that worked there were trying to get him to write down the recipes for them, and one that I knew was expecting success. But when I called her a couple months after the closure, she said she had not gotten anything. She was VERY disappointed, as she had even talked to him about opening her own pizza place after he closed. She said that the day after the accident, the owner seemed to lose all his spirit, and the life went out of the place. His friend's death really killed him too. I have no idea if he is even still alive, but I kind of doubt it. It's been several years since this happened, and people STILL talk about Zachary's Pizza. Just a really sad story in life. |
