Cambodia - Young Monk Commits Suicide Via Self-immolation
On the night of 21st September 2020 in Sankat Rotanak (Cambodia), a young monk committed suicide by self-immolation. K.S., another monk, had seen smoke coming from the young monk's room. Finding the door locked, he got help from several others to break the door down. Once inside, they saw the young monk on fire. They quickly put the flames out, but it was too late, the young monk had died. His death greatly saddened those who tried to help him + those who knew him.

According to the monk's 25-year-old half-brother, that the cause that led to his brother committing suicide until he died on the pagoda in the center of the city Battambang is due to broken heart. 3 points are, first one is that his mother died, while his father took a new wife. Second, the victim was disappointed with the results of failing the exam at the Buddhist high school, which was a big disappointment as he planned and continued his studies. Towards the university and finally, due to the lack of resources/money for further study. Sources who attended the funeral expressed their deep sorrow for the loss of a monk who was kind and innocent. There is a never-ending effort to learn. |
