Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

On the morning of 29th December 2019 in Prek Domkom Village (Cambodia), 31 year old C.S. died.

'C's wife, 20 year old Y.C., states that he had taken his fishing gear + gone out. When he didn't return, 'Y' sent out a friend to look for him. After searching, the friend eventually found the body of 'C' in the water, his fishing gear in a boat next to him.

'C', a farmer, had been electrocuted by the CP70 battery he was using.

Re: Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

This makes no sense. DC voltage below 35 volts has NEVER been fatal. That's why cars are 12 volt, and military equipment is 24/28 volt. You can't get killed by them. It looks like he has a REALLY HIGH VOLTAGE burn mark, like 220 volts or above. I don't think his little fishing battery did that. (But how many volts is a CP70 battery?)

I have no knowledge on this sort of thing but I assumed he was electrocuted because he was in the water.

Re: Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

Yeah, batteries don't do that, unless he was using some kind of equipment to invert and jack up the voltage to more household levels.

But electrocution while fishing, that's as normal and random as this site can reliably provide for.

Re: Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

People do sometimes use voltage to shock the fish then go scoop them up... Did he even have a fishing pole, lol?

Re: Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

the current paralizes fish in the perimeter,
and also humans esp falling in the water with a line in short circuit
less ohms = more ampère which is the scourge
he drowned while paralized

Re: Cambodia - Man Electrocuted Whilst Fishing

Well, you can up the charge on a 9 volt battery to 10,000 volts, but you aren't going to get the amperage to do that kind of damage. It looks like someone tried to weld him. Wonder if his fishing pole hit an overhead wire (Or one that had fallen). and he then toppled into the water. Just my opinion. Any electricians out there?
